Tips For Picking Better Quality Supplements

1.    Proprietary blends – Transparency is key! If your supplement company is hiding behind “Proprietary Blends” (usually shown as an * on the ingredient list) – throw them out!

 

2.    Third Party Testing – Companies should have a way of testing their final product to make sure the active ingredients are not only there, but also viable. The companies we use at Health Over All use third party testing.

 

3.    Quality Ingredients – There are many low-quality active ingredients that are poorly absorbed (ie. Pyridoxine HCL… dare you to check your #multivitamin) and inactive ingredients. Avoid artificial sweeteners, colours, lactose stearic acid to name a few (yes, I am looking at you chewable multivitamins!!).

 

4.    Ask your Naturopathic Doctor – Naturopathic Doctors have years of education (minimum of 7) and are well-versed in picking quality products, knowing if they interact with your pharmaceutical medication, and if/when you are taking too much of or the wrong products.
